The left hand of Frédéric Chopin - the famous polish composer & virtuose pianist!
Left hand cast of Frédéric Chopin – the famous polish composer & virtuose pianist!

In 1888 a small monument was erected to the memory of the Frédéric Chopin at Wasswan. Portraits and medallions of Chopin were executed by Ary Scheffer and Eugène Delacroix, and by the sculptors Bary and Clésinger.

A distinguished English amateur thus records his impressions of Chopin’s style of pianoforte-playing compared with those of other masters:

“His technical characteristics may be broadly indicated as negation of bravura, absolute perfection of fingerplay, and of the legatissimo touch, on which no other pianist has ever so entirely leant, to the exclusion of that high relief and point which the modern German school, after the examples of Liszt and Thalberg, has so effectively developed. It is in these feature that we must recognize that Grundverschiedenheit (fundamental difference) which according to Felix Mendelssohn distinguished Chopin’s playing from that of these masters, and in no less degree from the example and teaching of Moscheles…”

“Imagine a delicate man of extreme refinement of mien and manner, sitting at the piano and playing with no sway of the body and scarcely any movement of the arms, depending entirely upon his narrow feminine hands and slender fingers.”

“The wide arpeggios in the left hand, maintained in a continuous stream of tone by the strict legato and fine and constant use of the damper-pedal, formed a harmonious substructure for a wonderfully poetic cantabile. His delicate pianissimo, the ever-changing modifications of tone and time (tempo rubato) were of indescribable effect. Even in energetic passages he scarcely ever exceeded an ordinary mezzoforte. His playing as a whole was unique in its kind, and no traditions of it can remain, for there is no school of Chopin the pianist, for the obvious reason that he could never be regarded as a public player, and his best pupils were nearly all amateurs.”

Did God leave his gigantic fingerprint on planet Mars?

An impression from Mars.

‘Fingerprint of God’?

Earlier this year (april) NASA reported a Chandra X-ray observatory including a ghostly blue cloud that resembled a hand with outstretched fingers grasping a ball of fire – the media were joking amused: It’s the hand of God!. In the first week of september NASA reported another phenomenon found on planet Mars: a striking range of dunes and craters (see also the photo below) that appears to form a giant cosmic fingerprint on the surface of the Red Planet.

Scientists believe the undulating ground reveals global climate changes that took place on Mars over the past few million years.

The area is in the Coprates region, a large trough that forms part of the Valles Marineris – a system of canyons stretching thousands of miles along Mars’ equator.

The whitish areas could be evaporites – mineral sediments left behind when salt water evaporates. Such deposits would be of great interest as they indicate potential habitats for past martian life.

The detailed image is just one of thousands of pictures recently unveiled taken by Nasa’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. The images were collected using a High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera during more than 1,500 telescopic observations.

Each full image from HiRISE, taken between April and August last year, covers a strip of Martian ground six kilometers (3.7 miles) wide, showing details as small as one metre, or yard, across. They are the most detailed pictures of the Red Planet’s surface taken from space.

IN MEMORIAM: A tribute to the hands & hand casts of Michael Jackson!

Auction house Bonhams & Goodmans has announced that it has auctioned the first Michael Jackson item since the superstar’s death on June 25, 2009. The crystal-encrusted white glove which he had worn to the Sydney premiere of his film “Ghosts” on November 15, 1996, has sold for 57,600 dollars (49,000 US) – doubling the auctioneer’s estimate after a frenzied bidding war.

The King of Pop was in Australia for the HIStory World Tour at the time, and earlier that day he had married his second wife Debbie Rowe in Sydney.

Music journalist Peter Holmes and his friend Bill Hibble were apparently among the few audience members who laughed at the jokes in the short horror spoof and Jackson threw the glove to Hibble in thanks. Hibble has since died and his father put the glove up for sale.

The right-hand glove, made of white spandex and covered with hand-sewn clear crystals, was snapped up by the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in the United States.

Las Vegas Hard Rock curator Warwick Stone said:

“Michael Jackson gave it to someone in public in Australia and most collectors of Michael Jackson memorabilia knew about this glove. I’ve got the chain that used to hang around Sid Vicious’s neck, I’ve got one of Elvis’s .357 magnums which he used to shoot TVs with”

Michael Jackson’s autopsy results relate to his hand deterioration!

On august 25, 2009 court documents revealed that the Los Angeles coroner concluded that Michael Jackson had died of an overdose of propofol – a powerful sedative which Jackson frequently used to help him sleep, the singer called the drug his ‘milk’.

The coroner has ruled Michael Jackson’s death as a homicide: the designation of homicide means that Jackson died at the hands of another, but does not necessarily mean a crime was committed. For example, the coroner’s document also said:

“… It cannot be determined whether the cause of death is due to the actions of a single night and/or a single doctor, or the grossly negligent treatment of several doctors over an extended period of time.”

Because the court report indicates that Michael Jackson’s death appears not to be result of a single doctor/action, one should not exclude the overall state of his health either!

Tripe palms signal lung cancer or stomach cancer.

‘Tripe palms’ relate to lung/stomach cancer!

Tripe palms is a very rare skin disease which is characterised by thickened velvety palms that have the appearance of tripe – the stomach lining of beef, pork, or sheep. If tripe palms is featured with acanthosis nigricans (a brown to black, poorly defined, velvety hyperpigmentation of the skin), the cause is usually related to stomach- (35%) or lung cancer (11%).

Some statistics on ‘tripe palms’ & cancer:

“In over 40% of patients, tripe palms are the first sign of an undiagnosed cancer, hence all patients should undergo a full diagnostic workup for an associated malignancy, particularly lung cancer, gastrointestinal carcinoma, or a colonic polyps.”

“There is no specific treatment for tripe palms. It has been reported that approximately 30% of cases resolve once the underlying cancer is treated. However, tripe palms inconsistently respond to successful therapy and may persist for many years despite remission of the underlying cancer.”

Approximately in 90% of people having tripe palms this unusual hand characteristic can be associated with internal malignancy, for example a colonic polyps.

Michael Jackson’s abnormal fingernails, not related to the vitiligo nor the lupus!

While the autopsy results related to Michael Jackson’s death are still unknown (which will likely be presented later this week), there are still many discussions about the state of Michael Jackson’s health – less than 2 weeks before his death his health was described by Dr. Tohme Tohme (a spokesman of Jackson) as: a ‘perfect health‘…?

Michael Jackson was diagnosed in 1986 with vitiligo and lupus. Lupus is known as a potentially lethal disease (heart disease is a major complication in lupus!), but in Michael Jackson it was described to be in remission. Nevertheless, one can wonder: can his fingernail problems be related to the vitiligo and/or the lupus? The answer appears to be a ‘no’:

Vitiligo is related to the following nail disorders:

• Longitudinal striations;
• Trachyonychia (thin & lusterless nails);

Lupus is related to the following nail disorders:

• Nail spooning;
• Irregular, twisted, and dilated vessels at the cutticle.

CONCLUSION:

Out of the 4 described fingernail disorders related to vitiligo and lupus, the 4th can be related to his hand deterioration that was observed in 2009. But none of these fingernail disorders can be related to the typical looks of Michael Jackson’s fingernails during the last 3 years of his life.

But one should not forget that Michael Jackson’s fingernail problems were first recognized by the media in 2006, when members of Michael Jackson’s family were terrified that his escalating dependence on prescription drugs had become a danger to his life.

While Michael Jackson’s lupus was considered to be in remission, one could also speculate that his hand deterioration + his sudden death might have signaled a lupus relapse … due to an excessive use of prescription drugs???

Cicely Tyson reveals to CNN: ‘Michael Jackson’s white hand glove was to cover the vitiligo!

Last week Emmy Award winner Cicely Tyson – who has been a friend of Michael since the 80’s – told Larry King (CNN) about how Michael Jackson came to wear the glove and saying that it was due to Jackson having vitiligo. Tyson told Larry King that the two shared a fashion designer and she was there when the glove was being created.

And it all does make sense:

The ’single white glove’ (later covered in silver sequins) made its television debut on Michael’s left hand during his stunning performance of “Billy Jean” at Motown’s 25th anniversary TV special in 1983 – and it was also featured in the “Billy Jean” videoclip.

And both his ‘white fingertape’ and the ‘white armbrace’ can be related to the same purpose – for, there have several related theories about the true purposes of these wicked attributes!

Vitiligo is known for manifesting first on the hands – see the picture below (Michael Jackson’s hands are not included).

Vitiligo on hands.

Nevertheless, Michael Jackson was able to create some magic around the hand & arm features by telling his audience some ‘Wacko Jacko’ stories. Michael was once asked why he was wearing the piece of stage clothing offstage (actually in a hospital burn unit) and in a most innappropriate circumstance and he replied, “this way I am never offstage.”

Cicely Tyson revealed to CNN that she and Michael Jackson shared a fashion designer in the 1980s:

“All of a sudden, he [the designer] said, ‘I’m doing this glove for Michael’. Michael was beginning to develop the vitiligo and it started on his hand. The glove was to cover the vitiligo; that’s how that glove came into being.” The glove design and reason for it were not just hearsay for Tyson, she said. “I was there when he was creating it.”

Michael Jackson’s hand cast at Madame Tussauds in London!

Michael Jackson is well-known around the world. And quite a few people are aware that Michael Jackson’s body cast can seen at Madame Tussauds. Nevertheless, it is sort of a ‘public secret’ that “Madame Tussauds” also presents certain body parts of Michael Jackson – in London and Las Vegas you can find wax casts of his hands!

By the way, Michael Jackson belongs to a very small group of celebrities who’s body cast is presented in at least 6 out of the 9 dependances of “Madame Tussauds” in well-know metropolians of the world. The other celebrities who share this honour are: Angelina Jolie (8), Beyonce (6), Brad Pitt (8), Elvis Presley (6), George Clooney (6), George W. Bush (7), Johnny Depp (6), Madonna (7), Marilyn Monroe (6), Princess Diana (6).

It is also interesting to notice that Michael Jackson’s hand cast present much more details about his hands than any public photo available! Hand experts have noticed that Michael Jackson’s hand lines are rather remarkable and present a tell-tale – for example: take a look at his ‘double head line’, which is known in the fields of palmistry as a sign of a ‘double nature’ and an ‘eccentric personality’.

The famous palmist Cheiro wrote about the ‘double line of head’:

“A double line of head is very rarely found, but when found it is a sure sign of brain power and mentality. Such people have a perfectly double nature — one side sensitive and gentle, the other confident, cold, and cruel. They have enormous versatility, great command of language, a peculiar power of playing and toying with human nature, and generally great will and determination.”

Was Michael Jackson’s hand deterioration a clue to his sudden death?

One month ago we reported that earlier this year ‘horrible’ photos of Michael Jackson’s hands had arrived in the media speculating about his fight with aging. Now we found an earlier photo of his left hand that confirms that the deterioration of his hands had gone very fast!

Let’s take a look at the deterioration of Michael Jackson’s hand between 2006 and 2009!

The left hand of Michael Jackson taken at the Guinness World Records event in 2006!

The left hand of Michael Jackson taken at the Guinness World Records event in 2006!

THE 2006 REPORT:

In 2006 a Dailymail report described Michael Jackson’s left hand (see the photo ABOVE) as:

“… his brown, cracked nails were desperately in need of a little attention.”

THE 2009 REPORT:

In 2009 a Dailymail report described Michael Jackson’s hands (see the photo BELOW) as follows:

“The singer’s fingers and nails appeared to be in a terrible state when he stepped out this week. … His hands looked very discoloured and skin looked like it was dangling from his fingers. His fingernails could only be described as a manicurist’s worst nightmare.”

What are the major changes in Jackson’s nails over the past few years?

One striking aspect appears to be the color at the base of his fingernails (where usually the white lunula or ‘nail moons’ are found): while in 2006 the color of that aspect of his nails appeared to be ‘dark redish’, in 2009 it had definitely become ‘brownish’.

An interesting ‘in memorium’ report about the hands of Michael Jackson describes that brown nail moon – a very unusual nail disorder – are only known to be caused by medical drugs that are being used to treat cancers of HIV (Aids). So, the ‘rare’ state of Michael Jackson’s nails indicates that the recent rumours (may 2009) that he had skin cancer could have been close to the truth. For, obviously his fingernails have indicated that Michael Jackson was not in a ‘perfect health’ at all – as stated by Dr. Tohme Tohme (a spokesman of Jackson) to the New York Daily News!

By the way, Dr. Tohme Tohme denied today in an interview with Vegas Confidential that he was one of Jackson’s doctors:

“I don’t have anything to do with his (Jackson’s) medication or health.”
